The Columbus North boys soccer team will face Columbus East in a semifinal game of the Columbus East Sectional.
Pairings were drawn Friday (Sept. 25) by the IHSAA, and the defending setional champion Bull Dogs will begin postseason play against the Olympians at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 7) at the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Scottsburg will play Seymour in a first-round game on Monday (Oct. 5). The winner of that contest will meet Madison in the second semifinal game on Wednesday (Oct. 7).
The semifinal winners will play in the sectional final at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.
Sectional admission is $6 per session and $9 for an all-session ticket.
Columbus North has won the past eight sectionals and 13 overall since the IHSAA began holding a state soccer tournament in 1994.
The sectional winner advances to the Columbus North Regional, which will be played Oct. 15 and Oct. 17. Sectional winners from Richmond and Floyd Central will play in the regional opener at 6 p.m. Oct. 15. Sectional winners from Columbus East and Batesville square off in the second regional game on Oct. 15. The regional final is Oct. 17.
The regional winner advances to the Evansville Semistate on Oct. 24. Regional winners from Mt. Vernon (Fortville) and Bedford North Lawrence play in one semifinal. Regional winners from Columbus North and North Central meet in the second semifinal. The semistate champion will be determined later the same day.
The semistate winner qualifies for the IHSAA State Finals, which will be Oct. 31 at Michael A. Carroll Stadium at IUPUI in Indianapolis. The Class 2A championship game is at 6 p.m.
