JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The Columbus North boys soccer team saw its season come to an end Wednesday (Oct. 3) in the semifinal round of the Jeffersonville Sectional.
Connor Burke found the net in the 74th minute, converting a corner kick by teammate Xander Ochsner, to lift the Highlanders to a 1-0 victory.
The Bull Dogs closed their season at 7-11-1. Floyd Central (10-4-0) advanced to the sectional final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 6) against Jeffersonville (7-5-2), which defeated Columbus East 1-0 in the other semifinal.
Columbus North put eight shots on goal to just seven for the Highlanders. But Burke was the only player to score.
Senior Noah Kestler played 77 minutes in goal for the Bull Dogs and made six saves. Sophomore Colvin Iorio played three minutes in goal with no saves.
