Boys Varsity Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Miles York scored three minutes into the second half Tuesday evening (Sept. 22), and that was enough as the Bloomington South boys soccer team edge Columbus North in a Conference Indiana encounter.
Senior Bennett Piper earned the shutout for the host Panthers, who improved to 7-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in league play.
Columbus North, which already has clinched the conference championship, fell to 4-4-4 overall and completed its CI schedule at 3-1-1.
After a scoreless first half, York took ball from left side and scored over Columbus North senior goalkeeper Colving Iorio. Junior Andrew Swank earned the assist on the goal.
For the game, Columbus North totaled 12 shots but just one shot on goal from freshman Christian Cardoso. Bloomington South countered with seven shots and two shots on goal.
Iorio played the full 80 minutes in the nets for the Bull Dogs, making one save.
At the JV level, the host Panthers overcame a one-goal deficit at the half to post a 3-1 triumph. Sophomore Nathan Imlay had a goal and freshman Pavit Dhillon notched an assist for the Bull Dogs (6-3-3). James Ryan, Julian Dusbag and Etienne Leykin scored for the home team. CN sophomore Lukas Iorio played the first half in goal with one save. Freshman Christopher Perez played the second half in goal with three saves.
Columbus North returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 26) in the Zionsville Classic. The varsity plays Munster at 10 a.m. and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 2:30 p.m. The JV faces Zionsville at 11:45 a.m. and Guerin Catholic at 4:15 p.m.
