Turns out, the Columbus North boys swimming team will have three individual swims plus two relays in the IHSAA State Finals on Friday (Feb. 23).
Senior Thomas Goble qualified by winning the 50-yard freestyle in 22.27 seconds. He is seeded 35th in the field.
Junior Sam Russell earned a spot in the 200 individual medley with his time of 1:55.07, which met the state-meet standard. He is seeded 27th in the event.
Sophomore Nick Green is advancing in the 500 free as his time of 4:44.78 was good enough for a “call back” to the meet to complete the 32-athlete field. He is seeded 19th in the group.
Two CN relays – the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay – also qualified by meeting their respective state-meet standards.
The 200 free relay of junior Jared Carroll, sophomore Evan Patterson, Goble and Russell posted a 1:27.96 clocking. They are seeded 21st in the field.
The 400 free relay quartet of Patterson, Green, Carroll and Russell earned a spot with a time of 3:12.86. They are seeded 15th in the event.
