Junior Olivia Morlok is seeded 12th in the 500-yard freestyle and classmate Betsy King is seeded 13th in the 100 free based on qualifying sheets for the IHSAA girls swimming State Finals posted on Sunday (Feb. 3).
The preliminary round of the State Finals will be at 6 p.m. Friday (Feb. 8) at the Natatorium at IUPUI. The consolation and championship finals will be at 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 9).
The top eight performers in the prelims will swim in the championship finals. Those who placed ninth through 16th in the prelims will swim in the consolation finals.
In total, the Columbus North girls earned five individual swims plus one relay team in the State Finals.
Morlok is 12th in the 500 free with a seed time of 5:02.55 and she is 19th in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.25. King is 13th in the 100 free at 51.97 and 16th in the 50 free at 24.06.
Junior Erica Samuel received a “call back” in the 500 free to complete the field of 32 at state. She was third in the sectional in that event with a time of 5:10.20.
The Bull Frogs’ 200 free relay is seeded 21st with a time of 1:40.25. That unit includes King, sophomore Riddhi Garg, Samuel and Morlok.
Sophomore Ella Anderson will take part in the Bloomington North Diving Regional at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5). The top eight divers there qualify for the state meet. Anderson placed third in the sectional with 323.65 points.
