August 18, 2023 - After a disappointing loss to Conference Indiana foe Terre Haute South and a cancellation of the Center Grove match earlier this week, the Columbus North girls soccer team was anxious to get back on the pitch and show their best stuff. That opportunity came at Seymour on Thursday evening at Seymour and the Dogs took full advantage. The Dogs out-shot the Owls 19-1 and finished with a 4-0 victory to improve to 1-1 for the season. Avery Baker had a pair of goals, with assists from Rachel Merritt and Anna Donica, and Grace Merritt and Paige Mora each added goals (assists from Rachel Fulp and Izzy Lynn, respectively) as the Dogs dominated the match against the Owls. Erica Kaufman and Lydia Kushman split time in goal for Columbus North, working with the Bull Dog defense to shut out the Owls. North also won the JV game in shut-out fashion, winning 2-0. Riley Sims and Aliyah Young each had goals for the sub-varsity squad. The Bull Dogs will travel to Franklin Community on Monday, August 21. JV will begin at 5:30 pm, with varsity to follow.
