August 18, 2023 - The Bull Dogs showed glimpses of great volleyball against Seymour on Tuesday night, but just couldn’t put enough scoring runs together to win any of the three very competitive sets. Things came together for North at Shelbyville on Thursday and the Dogs (1-1) came home with a 3-0 varsity victory (25-19, 27-25, 25-11). The Bull Dogs controlled most of the first set, but fell behind in the second set before a heroic comeback led to a 27-25 win in set two. The comeback took its toll on Shelbyville and the third set was all Columbus North, securing the three-sets-to-none victory and the Bull Dogs’ first victory of the young season. The Golden Bears took both JV sets, 25-23, 25-21 as the JV team fell to 0-2. Kennedy Horn had ten kills, three aces, and three blocking assists for the Bull Dogs. Karen Dutro added seven kills and three blocks, Katelynn Mabis added five kills, a pair of aces, and two blocks, and Morgan Osborn led the Bull Dogs with 20 digs. Holly Evans and Reese Edwards had 15 and 14 assists, respectively for North. The varsity team will compete in the Franklin Central tournament on Saturday, August 19, beginning at 9:00 am.
