August 24, 2023 - Despite out-shooting Columbus East 9-2, the Bull Dogs girls soccer team was only able to muster a 0-0 draw in the crosstown rivalry match. The Dogs nearly broke the scoreless tie in the second half with a shot that ricocheted off the side of the post, but for the second year in a row, North was unable to find the back of the net against the Olympians. Erica Kaufman was in goal for all 80 minutes of the match, but neither of the Olympians’ two shots were on frame, so she wasn’t credited with any saves. Things looked promising for North after the JV team (2-1) blanked East 6-0, but North’s varsity offense simply could not find a crack in the Olympian defense. In that JV game, Lily Ryan had a pair of goals, while the Dogs got one goal each from Chloe Nungester, Sabrina Portaluppi, Riley Sims, and Anna Halstead. North (1-1-2) will travel to Floyd Central on Saturday, August 26. JV is set to begin at noon, with varsity to follow.
