August 30, 2023 - An excellent showing against fourth-ranked Roncalli last week has shown Columbus North that if they play to their potential, they can play with most teams across the state. The Dogs then rolled through Greenwood Christian Academy 3-0 on Monday before opening their Conference Indiana season at home against Bloomington North on Tuesday (Aug 29). The Bull Dogs knocked off the Cougars 3-1 to even their season record at 5-5 and begin their conference season 1-0. The Dogs jumped out to a 1-0 set lead with a 25-20 victory in the first stanza. The Cougars roared back with a 25-14 decision in the second set, but the rest of the night belonged to the Bull Dogs as they won the last two sets 25-14 and 25-20. Reese Edwards had 29 assists for the Bull Dogs in the match, while Megan Osborn led the defensive attack with 15 digs. Osborn added two aces in the victory, while Kennedy Horn had 16 kills. Sophomore Karen Dutro lead the team in blocks with five. The JV squad dropped both sets to Bloomington North, but the freshman squad recorded their first victory of the season with a 2-1 decision in the other sub-varsity match.
