September 3, 2023 - Aidan Whitley scored two goals to help lead the Bull Dogs to a 3-1 victory over North Central on a steamy Saturday afternoon at the BCSC Soccer Complex. Bryan Rodriguez broke a scoreless tie with just nine seconds remaining in the first half with a laser from about 35-yards out to put the Dogs up 1-0 at the half. Early in the second half, Leo Iorio passed ahead to Whitley who netted a goal just inside the left post to take a 2-0 lead. North Central refused to go down without a fight and took numerous shots over the next few minutes. Just one slipped by the Bull Dog keeper, Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon, off of a header that was originally blocked by Calderon, but got past him on the rebound. The Dogs put the match out of reach with Whitley’s second goal at the 76 minute mark off of an assist from Misaki Takemoto. Calderon played all 80 minutes in goal for the victorious Dogs (5-1-2), recording a pair of saves. North out-shot the Panthers 21-6 and had a 6-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. The Bull Dogs will host Perry Meridian on Tuesday. The JV, who lost 3-2 to North Central on a very late goal by the Panthers, will begin at 6:00 pm, with the varsity to follow.
