September 8, 2023 - Head boys soccer coach Andy Glover is not afraid to assemble a challenging schedule for his team. In another matchup of highly ranked teams, seventh-ranked Columbus North traveled to top-ranked Carmel and fell by a score of 3-1. Carmel got on the board in the 18th minute and again in the 32nd minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead. The Bull Dogs (6-2-2) bounced back with a goal in the 46th minute as Nico Gotoh’s shot was initially saved by the Carmel keeper, but Aidan Whitley was there to put in the rebound, to cut the Greyhound lead to 2-1. The Greyhounds then put the game away with another goal in the 75th minute. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon kept goal for the Dogs for all 80 minutes, recording four saves. Carmel out-shot North 15-13 with a 7-5 advantage in shots-on-goal. The JV team lost the early match 2-0 to fall to 2-5-3 for the season. North will travel to East Central on Monday, with the JV starting at 6:00 pm. Photo: Aidan Whitley scored North’s lone goal as they fell at top-ranked Carmel 3-1.
