April 11, 2026 - Columbus North traveled to southeast Indiana to compete in the two-day Castle Softball Invitation on Friday and Saturday, and finished with three victories in four games to improve to 5-4 for the season. The Bull Dogs went 2-0 on Friday with victories over Monrovia and North Posey. The 6-5 victory over Monrovia required the Dogs to score two in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and then two more in the bottom of the eighth to grab the victory. The Dogs dominated North Posey in game two 14 to 3, scoring 14 runs after allowing three in the top of the first inning. On Saturday, Class 4A 15th-ranked Castle gave the Dogs a taste of their own medicine with late-inning heroics. North scored a run in the top of the seventh to tie the score 3-3 and force extra innings, and then put another run on the board in the top of the eighth to take a 4-3 lead. However, the Knights answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth and another in the bottom of the ninth to steal the 5-4 victory. In the second game Saturday, the Bull Dogs beat Shelbyville 5-4, avenging a 12-1 loss to the Golden Bears at home Thursday night. The Bull Dogs will travel to Whiteland Monday night for a varsity/JV doubleheader, beginning at 5:30 pm.
