September 12, 2023 - Columbus North scored with 13 seconds left in Saturday’s match to win 1-0. Monday night, Avery Baker (shown) knocked home the match-winning goal with just two seconds remaining on the clock to help the Dogs to a 2-1 Conference Indiana victory over Bloomington North. After a 0-0 deadlock at halftime, North got on the board with 26 minutes remaining in the match when Anna Donica took a pass from Page Mora and knocked it past the Cougar goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead in the match. Bloomington North then evened the match 1-1 with a penalty kick after a penalty in the box by the Bull Dogs. Throughout the last two minutes of the match, the Bull Dogs amped up the offensive attack to try to put one more score on the board before the final horn sounded. They had a number of shots but were unable to find the back of the net until Baker’s last-second goal helped to bring the Dogs’ record to 4-4-2. The JV team improved their record to 8-0-1 with a 1-0 victory over the Cougars in the early match. The match was reduced to just one half due to the number of players available for Bloomington North. Next up for the Dogs will be a road trip to Lawrence North on Wednesday. The JV match will get underway at 6:00 with the varsity match to follow.
