Cross country teams each claim title at Brown County Challenge

August 18, 2022 - The boys and girls cross country teams got their seasons started in Brown County on Wednesday (August 17) at the Brown County Cross Country Challenge. The meet utilized a partner relay format in which each team member ran 2.5 km of the 5 km course. Team points were then awarded based on each school’s top three finishes. The girls team swept the top three places to score a meet minimum score of six points. Sydney Morlock and Jessica Meza finished first in 19:07.7. The team of Ainsley Sherlock and Lana Wisler took second in 19:54.6, with Macy Eaton and Katie Frazier finishing third in 19:57.2. In fact, the Bull Dogs swept the top six places and seven of the top nine positions. The boys team also won the event with 18 team points. Their scoring teams included Kellen Hottell and Draven Martinez, who took third overall in 16:01.8, Adler Larson and Charlie Smith whose 16:36.6 allowed them to finish seventh, and Neal White and Denton Sluder who finished eighth in 16:38.2. The boys took nine of the top 18 places overall. The cross country teams will be back on the course next Tuesday (August 23) when they face Columbus East in a dual meet at Ceraland beginning at 4:30 pm.
