April 22, 2026 - For much of the first set of varsity boys volleyball in Memorial Gym on Tuesday night, it appeared as though the Dogs were going to be on the losing end of a very quick match. Floyd Central jumped out to a huge lead and the Dogs were reeling. The Dogs, however, found life late in the first set and rallied to make the final score of the first set a respectable 25-16. That spark was all North needed as they won the next two sets and the fifth set tie breaker to beat the visiting Highlanders 3-2. (16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 15-13). Late in the match, Leo Iorio became a one-man wrecking crew, serving a team-high seven aces (including four in a row at one point), and pounding 24 kills, and tallying four digs for the match. Ramu Alagappan had 50 assists and the Dogs (8-12) got six blocks from Noah Dornfeld, and five each from Jake Roeder and Sawyer Patterson. The JV team (6-7) fell 2-0 to the Highlanders in the early match. Both teams will travel to Martinsville on Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 pm.
