Panthers sweep Bull Dogs in varsity volleyball

September 15, 2023 - Coming off an emotional five-set victory at Franklin Central on Tuesday night, Columbus North volleyball showed some tired legs on Thursday at Jennings County, where they were swept 3-0 in the varsity match. The Panther jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-10 victory in the first set. The Bull Dogs bounced back and played better in the early stages of the second set, but ultimately fell 25-16. North continued to gain traction and held a lead late in the third match, but the Panthers rallied and held on for a 27-25 victory in the last set and a 3-0 victory for the match. Morgan Osborn recorded 16 digs to lead the Bull Dogs (9-7). Reese Edwards had 15 digs and 17 assists, while Kennedy Horn tallied five kills and three blocks. Karen Dutro had seven kills and a pair of blocks, and Kaitlin White had five kills for the match. The JV swept the early match 2-0 to improve to 9-7 for the season. Next up for the Bull Dogs will be a trip to New Albany on Tuesday, September 19. JV and freshmen begin at 6:00, with varsity to follow approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the JV match.
