Dogs blank Patriots 4-0 in boys soccer

September 17, 2023 - Aidan Whitley and Nico Gotoh each had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 Columbus North victory at Terre Haute North on Saturday, improving the seventh ranked boys soccer team to 8-2-2 for the season, including an unblemished 3-0 record in Conference Indiana. Christian Cardoso put the Dogs on the board first in the 31st minute with an assist to Whitley. Gotoh then put Columbus North up 2-0 early in the second half when he put back a Whitley shot that was saved by the Patriot’s keeper. Whitley scored his goal in the 46th minute off of Gotoh’s assist. Misaki Takemoto made the score 4-0 in the 49th minute, knocking home a goal after a number of Bull Dogs’ shots were saved by Terre Haute North’s goalkeeper. The Bull Dogs outshot the Patriots by an astonishing 34-4 count, including a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon kept goal for 80 minutes for the Dogs and tallied one save. The Bull Dogs also won the JV match 6-0, improving their record to 4-5-3 (1-1-1). Next up for the Dogs will be an important Conference Indiana matchup at home on Tuesday against tenth-ranked Bloomington South. JV is scheduled for a 6:00 start, with varsity to follow.
