September 19, 2023 - Bloomington South clinched their third straight Conference Indiana girls soccer title with a 2-1 victory over Columbus North on Monday evening at the BCSC Soccer Complex. The Bull Dogs got on the board early as Avery Baker blasted home a third-minute goal off of an assist from Anna Donica, putting the Bull Dogs up 1-0 on the highly-ranked Panthers. However, the Panthers controlled the ball much of the rest of the match and two goals in the last four minutes of the first half by Bloomington South doomed the home team. Paige Terry was solid in goal for the Dogs, but the ball stayed at Bloomington South’s offensive end much of the match. The Dogs (5-5-3, 3-2) were never able to mount a consistent offensive attack as tenacious defense and precision passing by the Panthers prevailed throughout the match. In the early match, the JV Bull Dogs stayed undefeated for the year (11-0-1), including a perfect 5-0 in Conference Indiana with a 1-0 victory over Bloomington South. The Dogs have allowed just one goal in 12 matches this season. The Bull Dogs (5-5-3) will host Evansville North on Saturday, beginning at 12:00.
