September 20, 2023 - Columbus North volleyball stood toe-to-toe with a hard hitting New Albany team on Tuesday evening (September 19), but ultimately fell in three sets. New Albany jumped out to a sizable lead in the first set, but the Bull Dogs rallied to cut the first set deficit to 25-20. It looked early in the second set as though North was going to whither, but showed signs of life late in the set to lose 25-14. The Dogs came roaring back in the third set, taking a 22-19 lead until New Albany made a charge and eventually took the third set 27-25 and the match 3-0. Kaitlyn Mabis and Ally Wettsurack had three and two service aces to lead the Bull Dogs (9-8), while Morgan Osborn paced the Dogs with 16 digs. Kennedy Horn had 14 kills and Sydney Ousley added eight in the loss. Reese Edwards topped all setter with 26 assists, and Karen Dutro and Elaina Penrod had one block apiece. Both of the early matches went to three sets, with the freshmen (6-5) winning and the JV (9-8) falling 2-1. The Dogs will have a quick turnaround as they host Floyd Central this evening (September 20). JV and freshman matches will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow the JV approximately 7:30.
