September 20, 2023 - Columbus North boys soccer had their hopes of a Conference Indiana title dashed by Bloomington South in a 1-0 decision at the BCSC Soccer Complex on Tuesday evening (Sep 19). The Panthers completed an undefeated 5-0 conference season with their victory. The Bull Dogs fell to 8-3-2 overall and 3-1 in Conference Indiana with one conference match remaining. After a 0-0 halftime score, the Panthers jumped on the board less than a minute into the second half, taking a 1-0 lead. The Bull Dogs had a few opportunities to score later in the second half, but the Bloomington South goalkeeper was up to the challenge and turned away all shots. The Dogs out-shot the Panthers 13-8, and each team tallied five shots on goal. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon kept goal for all 80 minutes and recorded four saves. The two JV teams battled to a 0-0 draw in the early match. Next up for the Bull Dogs will play host to Floyd Central on Thursday. JV is scheduled to get underway at 6:00, with varsity to follow 15 minutes after the conclusion of the JV match.
