Boys soccer match with Floyd Central ends in 1-1 draw

September 22, 2023 - The sixth-ranked Columbus North boys soccer team recorded its third 1-1 draw of the season on Thursday evening at the BCSC Soccer Complex, this time against Floyd Central. The Highlanders got on the board first with a goal in the 18th minute, leading to a 1-0 lead for Floyd Central at the half. Obed Oliva then put home a goal with an assist from Misaki Takemoto in the 47th minute to even the match. The time would run out with the same tally on the scoreboard. The Bull Dogs out-shot Floyd Central 17-4 and had a 4-3 advantage in shots-on-frame. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon kept goal for all 80 minutes, and recorded a pair of saves for the Bull Dogs, who are now 8-3-3. Columbus North won the JV match 2-0 and recognized Columbus North teachers for Teacher Appreciation Night between matches. The Dogs will travel to Terre Haute South on Saturday (September 23).
