September 22, 2023 - Columbus North stayed undefeated in Conference Indiana with a 35-0 victory at Terre Haute North. The Bull Dogs (3-3) expressed dominance early and never looked back in an important conference victory after losses to ranked opponents the past two weeks. After a three-and-out to begin the game for the Bull Dogs, Columbus North scored touchdowns on three of their next four possessions and the defense recorded a safety to help the Bull Dogs build a 27-0 lead at the half. The Dogs then scored on their first possession of the third quarter to build a 35-0 lead and force a running clock the remainder of the contest. The Bull Dogs’ offense tallied 307 total yards, with 173 coming on the ground on 30 attempts (led by 99 yards from quarterback Asher Ratliff), and 134 through the air on 10-of-21 passing by Ratliff. Braylon Thoman led the Columbus North receivers with five catches for 78 yards and one touchdown. Ratliff through four touchdown passes, but had a pair of interceptions. It was the Bull Dog defense, however, that dismantled the Patriot offensive attack. The Dogs allowed only 50 yards total offense and held Terre Haute North to -40 yards rushing for the game. The Patriots were only 1-for-12 on third-down conversions for the game and the Dogs tallied 9 sacks for the contest. The Bull Dogs will need to clean up penalties as they face Bloomington South next Friday, and will need to eliminate costly turnovers that plagued the team tonight. The Bull Dogs will host Terre Haute North in JV action Saturday morning at 11:00 am, and the Freshmen will travel back to Terre Haute for a 1:00 kickoff Saturday afternoon.
