Girls track and field dominate sectional meet

Senior Miley McClellan won the 200m and 400m at the Columbus North Girls Track and Field Sectional. The Dogs dominated the team event with 221 points.

May 21, 2026 - Mother Nature found a way to split the girls track and field sectional into two days, but it could not stop the Bull Dogs from dominating sectional meet, accumulating 221 points. Jennings County was a distant second with 108.5 points, followed by Columbus East with 55.5 in the twelve team event. Top three individuals and relays advance to next week’s Bloomington South Regional. The Bull Dogs advanced at least one competitor in each event. Here were the top Bull Dog performances from the sectional meet: 4x800m relay: 1st 100m: Avery Johnson - 3rd 100m hurdles: Emerson Chambers - 1st, Lily Miller - 2nd 200m: Miley McClellan - 1st 1600m: Emma Lowther - 2nd 4x100m relay: 1st 400m: McClellan - 1st, Reece Peeples - 2nd 300m hurdles: Miller - 1st, Chambers - 2nd 800m: Tristan Works - 1st, Hazel Sasse - 2nd 3200m: Adira Sluder - 2nd 4x400m relay: 1st High jump: Emma Haston - 1st Pole vault: Karlie Haston - 2nd Long jump: Johnson - 1st Discus: Gabby Revell - 1st, Sydni Schiefer - 2nd Shot put: Schiefer - 1st, Revell - 3rd The boys will host their sectional meet this evening, beginning at 5:45 pm. The girls regional meet will be at Bloomington South on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00 pm.
