Head coach Mike Bodart addresses the Bull Dog baseball team after a heartbreaking 13-inning loss to Bloomington South in the regional championship game on June 6.

June 7, 2026 - Mike Bodart’s Bull Dog baseball team played their hearts out, but fell 5-3 in 13 innings to Conference Indiana foe Bloomington South in the IHSAA Jennings County Regional on Saturday, June 6, bringing to an end their 19-12 season. The Dogs had won seven straight games entering Saturday’s regional and finished the season with ten victories in their final 13 games. The Bull Dogs fell behind 2-0 after five innings, but runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings gave North a 3-2 lead. The Panthers answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth to force more innings tied 3-3. The two teams held each other scoreless until the bottom of the thirteenth inning when the Panthers walked off with a homerun. The batter, however, was called out due to improper base running, but the two runners on base were allowed to score, securing a 5-3 victory for the Panthers. Brock Kintner had three hits and a walk to lead the Bull Dogs’ offense. Jack Whaley, Dillon Long, Cade Finke, and Daiju Iwaya all recorded two hits. Ike Genth and Finke were credited with an RBI each. Jayden Adorno got the start and allowed two earned runs on one hit, while striking out one. Franko Ortega came on in the fourth and tossed the next 6-⅔ innings. Ortega gave up six hits, but just one run while recording five strikeouts. Dillon Long then came on to start the eleventh inning and allowed three runs (two earned) and three hits. The sectional champion Bull Dogs will say goodbye to eight seniors, including Sam Perry, Brock Kintner, Macario Mendez, Jayden Adorno, Daiju Iwaya, Dillon Long, Jesse Clark, and Javier Uscanga. Perry, Mendez, Kintner, and Clark were also part of the 2023 sectional championship team. Congratulations to the Bull Dog baseball team on an outstanding season.
