September 28, 2023 - The Columbus North and Batesville girls soccer match was canceled due to lightning on Tuesday evening, but the athletic directors at the two schools were able to find a way to get it made up the very next evening at the BCSC Soccer Complex. Batesville, ranked 14th in Class 2A, gave Columbus North a battle, but a seventh-minute unassisted goal by Rachel Merritt stood throughout the match, giving North a 1-0 victory. Paige Terry and Erica Kaufman each played 40 minutes in goal, with Terry Recording two saves and Kaufman one. The Bull Dogs out-shot Batesville 23-5 for the match. The Bull Dogs finished their regular season 6-6-3, with a 3-2 record in Conference Indiana, but won five of their last eight matches to finish the year with momentum. Columbus North will face Whiteland High School at the Whiteland Sectional in the second match on October 4. The Warriors are 10-5-1 for the season and the two teams did not meet during the regular season. The JV team started the evening with a 3-0 victory over Batesville, completing an undefeated 13-0-1 season in which they surrendered only one goal in 14 matches. The Bull Dogs completed their regular season with the victory and will face Whiteland in the first round of the Whiteland Sectional.
