October 12, 2023 - Columbus North swept Shelbyville early in the regular season, and the Bull Dogs showed that it was no fluke as they knocked the Golden Bears out of the Franklin Community Sectional volleyball tournament with another 3-0 sweep, improving their season record to 16-12 and advancing to the Sectional semifinals against Whiteland on Saturday afternoon. The Bull Dogs won 25-16, 26-17, 25-18 and the following individuals led the Bull Dogs in these statistical categories: Kills: Kennedy Horn 13, Karen Dutro 8, Sydney Ousley 4, Kaitlin White 4 Blocks: Horn 1 solo, 1 assist, Dutro 1 solo Assists: Reese Edwards 25 Service Aces: Morgan Osborn 4 Digs: Osborn 16, Katelynn Mabis 4 Columbus East and Franklin Community will play in the 11:00 am matchup Saturday with the Columbus North versus Whiteland match to follow. Franklin Community advanced after a 3-0 sweep of East Central. Whiteland and Columbus East each drew first-round byes and will see their first Sectional action on Saturday. The winners of the two semifinal matches will meet for the Sectional championship at 6:00 pm Saturday evening.
