October 15, 2023 - Head Coach Kendal Hammel’s Bull Dogs boys tennis team finished one victory short of an IHSAA State Tennis title when his second-ranked team fell to top-ranked Carmel 3-2 on Saturday evening. The Bull Dogs finished with a 24-2 record, with both losses coming to Carmel. Saturday’s matches were moved indoors at DePauw University due to weather and court conditions at North Central High School. The Bull Dogs fell behind 1-0 to the Greyhounds when Austin Clark fell at his three-singles match 0-6, 2-6. Hank Lin evened the match 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at one-singles. The Greyhounds secured the team victory winning the next two matches, first at two-doubles as Michael Crossman and Yoki Murabayashi fell 2-6, 1-6, and Parth Shah lost 3-6, 1-6 at two-singles. The Dogs won the final match, the one-doubles match with Anvay Atram and Amrit Kar, 6-3, 7-5 to make the final team score 3-2 in favor of Carmel. Lin at one-singles and the one-doubles team of Atram and Kar will all advance to next week’s individual State Championships due to their undefeated post-season runs. Kar and Atram are the defending IHSAA State runners-up in doubles. The Bull Dogs will say goodbye to ten seniors at the conclusion of the season. These Dogs include Atram, Kar, Clark, Charith Dasan, Aidan McGill, Vignesh Premkumar, Jianing Wang, Preetham Yerragudi, David Zhang, and Eddy Lin.
