November 22, 2023 - Columbus North boys basketball opened their season at home at Heritage Christian, and after winning the freshman (2-0) game 50-37 and the JV (1-0) game 60-42, the varsity team had a tough time getting the ball through the net and fell 49-29. Head coach Paul Ferguson’s squad lost all five starters from last year’s Sectional Championship team, and his young squad showed signs of early season jitters as they scored only twelve points in the first half, with only three made field goals in the half. The scoring improved a bit in the second half as the Dogs put 17 points on the board, but it still left them well short of Heritage Christian. Nolan Pickup led the Dogs with ten points, and Nate Enniking added six in the loss. Judah Lewis had 20 points to lead the JV, with Austin Perry chipping in 15. The Dogs (0-1) will host Seymour on Saturday evening, with the JV and freshman teams getting started at 6:00, followed by the varsity at approximately 7:30.
