Columbus North falls to North Central in swimming and diving

November 26, 2023 - The Panthers of North Central High School swept Columbus North in boys and girls swimming and diving on Saturday, November 25. Mridula Muthukumaran (shown here in a meet earlier this season) scored second-place finishes in the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:22.44) and the 100-yard Backstroke (1:04.51) and teamed with Ainsley Sherlock, Sanaa Kulkarni, and Georgia Abdallah to grab a runner-up finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay (2:00.78). Ella Gray Partin grabbed an additional runner-up finish in 1-meter Diving as the girls fell 130-55. In the boys division, the Dogs got first-place finishes by Dagan Keiffman in 1-meter Diving (142.75) and Diego Cotero Tapia in the 100-yard Butterfly (54.23). In addition, Aarush Mahato, Jude Abdallah, Cotero Tapia, and Isaac Proffit earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay, Cotero Tapia finished second in the 200-yard Freestyle, Proffitt was runner-up in the 50-yard Freestyle, and Abdallah was second in the 100-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Breaststroke. North also finished second in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay (Cotero Tapia, Abdallah, Mahato, Proffitt), and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay (Eli Varchenko, Hudson Clock, HP Devaguptapu, and Mateo Gamez-Lamadrid. The boys team lost 118-58. Both teams will travel to Seymour for a dual meet on Thursday, November 30, beginning at 5:30 pm.
