December 16, 2023 - Columbus North held a 34-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter of Friday night’s boys basketball game at Columbus East, but were unable to hold the lead as the Olympians rallied to steal a 46-45 victory in the cross-town rivalry game. Columbus East’s last victory in the series came in 2018. Caleb Ferguson poured in 20 points to lead North, and the Dogs got eight from Max Coomes and seven from Garrett Long in the loss. The Dogs (2-4) were 9-for-10 from the free throw line for the game and knocked in six three-point goals, but a 19-point fourth quarter by the Olympians doomed North. North dominated the JV (5-1) game 62-27 behind 20 points from Judah Lewis, and East took the freshman (5-2) game 25-29. Next up for the Bull Dogs will be a trip to Terre Haute South on Wednesday, December 20. JV and freshman games will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow. This matchup will be the first Conference Indiana games for the JV and varsity teams. Photo: Garrett Long controls the opening tip against Columbus East on Friday evening (December 16). The Bull Dogs fell to the Olympians 46-45.
