Haston collects first victory as North beats East 39-6

August 29, 2022 - Head coach Logan Haston recorded his first win as a varsity head coach as the Bull Dogs beat Columbus East 39-6. The victory over Columbus East was North’s six in the past seven seasons in the cross-town rivalry. Columbus North now owns a 27-25 advantage all-time in the series. After a shaky first half, the Dogs (1-1) outscored the Olympians 29-6 in the second half after a 10-6 advantage after the first half. The Olympians (0-2) could only muster 63 yards of total offense for the game. Tyler Blythe had 129 yards rushing and two touchdowns to go with two catches for 23 yards. He even threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Horn. Zac Horn was 14-for-20 passing for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Cooper Horn led the Dogs’ receiving group with four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Sam Mormino added 72 yards on the ground. The Dogs and Olympians split Saturday’s sub-varsity games, with North’s freshmen winning 20-13 and East taking the JV game 10-6. The Dogs will face Southport this weekend in their Conference Indiana opener. Varsity and ninth grade will play at Southport with the JV teams playing at Columbus North Saturday morning.
