January 6, 2024 - Columbus North boys battled but dropped three close games to the Patriots at Columbus North on Friday evening. The varsity’s 44-38 loss followed a 61-58 victory by Terre Haute North in the JV game and a 39-38 Patriot victory in the 9th grade game. The Bull Dogs and Patriots were knotted at 16 apiece at halftime of the defensive battle, and the Patriots took a 32-28 lead after three quarters. The Bull Dogs made another late run, but the Patriots made enough free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Judah Lewis (shown) led the Dogs with 13 points, while Caleb Ferguson added eight and Garrett Long six as the Bull Dogs fell to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Brennan Hester paced the JV team (5-4) with 17 points as the JV overcame an 18-point second half deficit to take a lead with under two minutes remaining. Cole Dawson had 15 points for the 9th grade squad (5-3) in the loss. The Bull Dogs will host a JV/varsity doubleheader on Wednesday, January 10 against Covenant Christian, beginning at 6:00 pm.
