Girls second, boys third at Conference Indiana swim meet

January 8, 2024 - Columbus North girls swim team finished runners-up to Bloomington South (477) with 373 points and the boys were third behind Bloomington South (484.5) and Bloomington North (473) with 319 team points at the Conference Indiana swim and dive championships on Saturday, January 6 in Terre Haute. The girls 200 meter freestyle relay team of Katie Frazier, Mridula Muthukumaran, Ainsley Sherlock, and Georgia Abdallah were Conference Indiana champions, finishing in 1:45.96. The Dogs also got runner-up finishes in the 200 yard medley relay (Muthukumaran, Sherlock, Sanaa Kulkarni, Abdallah) and from Sherlock in the 100 yard breaststroke. Third place finishes included Frazier in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle, Muthukumaran in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard backstroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay (Frazier, Kara Buntin, Advika Badve, Brooklyn Pendleton). Top-three finishes for the Bull Dog boys included a runner-up finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay (Diego Cotero Tapia, Aarhus Mahato, Isaac Proffitt, Jude Abdallah), and Abdallah in the 100 yard breaststroke. The 200 yard medley relay (Mahato, Abdallah, Brock Smith, Cotero Tapia) finished third, as did Cotero Tapia in the 100 yard butterfly.
