North falls to Covenant Christian 54-46 in boys basketball

January 11, 2024 - The Columbus North offense got good looks against Covenant Christian, but struggled to put the ball in the basket throughout the night and fell to Covenant Chrisitan 54-46 in boys basketball action in Memorial Gym on Wednesday evening. The Bull Dogs (3-7) fell behind 8-0 early in the first half and coach Paul Ferguson used a timeout to get his team settled down and to make defensive adjustments. The two teams then played back and forth the remainder of the contest. The Dogs made a fourth-quarter run but Covenant Christian (5-5) made all eight of their free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on for the victory. Caleb Ferguson paced the Bull Dogs with 15 points, and North got ten points each from Nate Enneking and Garrett Long. The Bull Dogs (6-4) bounced back after three straight losses and dominated the JV game 77-51. Austin Perry poured in 24 points in the North victory. There was no ninth grade game. All three teams will travel to Mooresville on Friday evening, January 12. JV and ninth grade will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow the JV game.
