August 31, 2022 - The Columbus North boys soccer team upended visiting Center Grove in a battle of ranked opponents on Tuesday, August 30 at the BCSC Soccer Complex. The victory improved North’s record to 6-0-1 as they get set to host Cathedral on Thursday night (September 1). The Trojans got on the board first with a penalty kick after a hand ball was called against North late in the first half. However, a Nathan Imlay goal, assisted by Obed Oliva in the second half seemed to spark the squad into an increase in ball pressure defensively and an attacking mentality offensively as the Dogs dominated the remainder of the match. Nico Gotoh shot off a corner kick in the 74th minute ricocheted off a Center Grove defender and into the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The JV team beat the Trojans by the same 2-1 score, improving to 6-1 for the season. Photo: Nathan Imlay had a second-half goal to tie the match against Center Grove on Tuesday evening (August 30). The Dogs went on to a 2-1 victory over the 17th-ranked Trojans.
