North sweeps Pioneers in boys basketball

January 13, 2024 - Columbus North boys basketball halted a three-game losing streak with a 63-51 victory at Mooresville on Friday evening (January 12). The Bull Dogs built a 28-25 lead at halftime, but a 10-0 run by the Pioneers to begin the second half forced North to rally for an eight-point victory. Caleb Ferguson led North with 19 points, including a 10-for-11 shooting performance from the free throw line. Garrett Long added twelve points for the Dogs (4-7) and Judah Lewis hit a pair of three-point goals on his way to eleven points in the victory. The JV team improved to 7-4 with a 50-45 victory in one early game. Freshman Austin Perry had 20 points for the Bull Dogs and Eli Smith added 13. In the freshman game, Devante Degraffenreid had twelve points and Drew Hoeflinger added nine as the Dogs improved to 6-3 with a 37-26 victory. The Dogs will host Jennings County on Tuesday (January 16). JV and freshmen will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow.
