Ainsley Sherlock Sectional champion in 100-yard Breaststroke as team finishes second

February 3, 2024 - Sophomore Ainsley Sherlock (shown) won the 100-yard Breaststroke in 1:06.87 to claim the sectional championship at the East Central Girls Swim Sectional on Saturday (Feb 3), helping lead the Bull Dogs to third-place finish as a team. The Dogs finished second to Bloomington South (502 points) with 323 points. Bloomington North was third, East Central fourth, and Columbus East fifth in the 14-team sectional. All sectional champions automatically advance to the IHSAA State Finals February 9, 10 as well as the next best performances from across the state to fill the 32 spots in each event. Those call backs should be announced later this evening (Feb 3). In addition to Sherlock’s sectional championship in the breaststroke, the Bull Dogs’ top performances in each event included the following: 200-yd Medley Relay (Mridula Muthukumar, Sherlock, Sanaa Kulkarni, Georgia Abdallah) - 3rd 200-yd Freestyle (Katie Frazier) - 5th 200-yd Individual Medley (Sherlock) - 3rd 50-yd Freestyle (Brooklyn Pendleton) - 6th 1-meter Diving (Ella Gray Partin) - 8th 100-yd Butterfly (Muthukumar) - 3rd 100-yd Freestyle (Frazier) - 4th 500-yd Freestyle (Ava Andrews) - 11th 200-yd Freestyle Relay (Frazier, Muthukumara, Sherlock, Abdallah) - 4th 100-yd Backstroke (Muthukumar) - 5th 400-yd Freestyle Relay (Frazier, Pendleton, Kara Buntin, Kulkarni) - 4th
