February 20, 2024 - Coach Ferguson would like to have a five-second re-do against Bloomington South. If granted, the outcome may have been different. After tying the score 37-37 late in the second quarter, Bloomington South held for one last shot in the quarter. A baseline drive with under five seconds remaining in the quarter resulted in a bucket, a foul, and a free throw to put the Panthers up three with 3.1 seconds left in the quarter. Bloomington South then stole the inbounds pass and nailed a three-point goal at the buzzer to take a six-point lead after three quarters. They made enough free throws down the stretch in the final stanza to extend the final margin to 50-40, dropping the Bull Dogs to 0-2 in Conference Indiana play and 6-11 overall. Caleb Ferguson led the Bull Dogs with eleven points, while Nate Enneking (shown) and Garrett Long each added nine in the loss. The Dogs trailed 22-16 in a high-scoring first quarter, but a 12-7 advantage had them down just 29-28 at the half. The Panthers outscored the Bull Dogs13-7 at the free throw line for the game and made two more three-point goals for the night. The JV team dropped to 9-8 for the season with a 53-43 loss in the early game. There was no freshman game. The Dogs will travel to Southport on Tuesday for a JV/Varsity doubleheader beginning at 6:00 pm.
