Boys swim team finish fifth at Sectional meet and earn State berths in three events

February 18, 2024 - Columbus North scored 216 points to earn a fifth-place finish at the IHSAA Columbus North Boys Swim Sectional Finals on Saturday, February 17. While the Bull Dogs did not have any Sectional champions who automatically qualified for the State Championships, North had three events called back to fill the top 32 performances statewide to compete in the State Finals next weekend. Bloomington South won the Sectional team title (438 points), with Bloomington North finishing second. Jude Abdallah finished fifth in the 50 yard Freestyle, earning a state call-back. Diego Contero Tapia’s third-place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly also earned him a call-back. Abdallah and Contero Tapia then teamed with Aarush Mahato and Isaac Proffitt to finish second in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay and earn a call-back position. The State Championship Prelims will begin on Friday, February 23, with the Finals taking place the following day.
