Gymnasts second at Sectional meet and advance to Regionals

February 24, 2024 - Columbus North finished just .4 points behind Sectional team champion Bloomington North (106.4) and well ahead of third-place Bloomington South (103.7) in the eleven-team Franklin Central Sectional. All three teams will advance to next weekend’s Regional meet. Columbus North tallied the highest team score on Vault, the second-highest total on Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise, and the third-highest team score on Balance Beam to lead them to their 106 team points. Reese Euler continued her dominating season with a 37.975 All-Around Sectional championship. Euler won the Vault (9.4), Uneven Bars (9.4), Balance Beam (9.675), and was third on Floor Exercise (9.5). Hannah Perry was sixth among the 57 competitors in the All-Around (35.2). Perry finished in the top-10 in all four individual events, finishing 4th on the Floor Exercise, 5th on the Vault, and tenth on both the Uneven Bars and the Balance Beam. Also competing for the Bull Dogs were Emerson Chambers (23rd in the AA), Laney Acton (Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise), Ellie McIntire (Vault), and Arwyn Tian (Balance Beam). Next Friday’s Regional meet (March 1) will once again be held at The Gymnastics Company and hosted by Franklin Central High School. Top three teams will advance to the State Meet in Muncie the following weekend.
