February 28, 2024 - Columbus North’s defense was clearly strong enough to win their first-round Sectional game against Columbus East, but the Dogs struggled offensively throughout the contest and fell to the Olympians 41-33 to draw the 2023-24 season to a close. The Bull Dogs missed nine free throws (12-for-21) in the eight-point loss, and made only one three-point goal in the contest. The Olympians jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Dogs were able to find the bottom of the net for the first time. After the rough start, the Dogs outscored the Olympians 33-30, but the early damage was too much to overcome. Ben Ferguson (shown) led the Bull Dogs with 10 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Caleb Ferguson and Garrett Long each added six points for North, who finished their season with a 6-16 record. Columbus East will advance to play East Central in the second round later this week.
