April 13, 2024 - Columbus North baseball traveled to defending 3A state champion Silver Creek High School for a Saturday doubleheader and split the pair of games. The Dogs took the first game 7-1, but the Dragons battled back and edged the Dogs in game two 3-1. Connor Hensley (shown) threw a complete-game five-hitter in the opener. He struck out five and only walked one while giving up one unearned run. Dillon James and Brock Kintner had three and two hits, respectively, for the Bull Dogs. The Dogs could only manage four hits in the second game (Kintner, Hensley, Zach McLean, and Sam Perry) as they suffered their first loss of the season against four victories. McLean pitched three innings, giving up two runs while walking three and striking out two. Ryan Rayburn came on in relief and threw the last three innings. Rayburn allowed one earned run while striking out two. The JV team fell to 2-2 after a 9-8 loss at Carmel on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dogs will travel to Franklin Central on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
