April 19, 2024 - The Bull Dogs broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and Ryan Rayburn threw a perfect seventh inning to beat Jennings County 5-2 in varsity baseball. Three pitchers combined to throw a two-hitter as the victory pushed the Dogs’ record to 6-1 for the season. Jayce Emmitt got his first varsity start on the mound for North, pitched four innings, and struck out four while giving up just one hit and one earned run. Sophomore Brock Kintner (shown) threw the fifth and sixth innings, allowing only one hit while picking up the win. Kintner also had a pair of hits for North, while Dillon James, Connor Hensley, Emmitt, Jackson Newman, and Sam Perry all scored. Ryan Rayburn recorded two RBI in North’s sixth win in seven games to start the season. The JV (White) team fell to 0-3 with a 13-9 loss at Columbus East. The varsity team will host the 10-1 Floyd Central Highlanders at 6:00 pm on Friday evening at Southside Elementary in a match-up of one-loss teams. The schedule won’t get any easier for the Dogs as they will travel to 9-2 Noblesville on Saturday afternoon.
