April 20, 2024 - Senior Connor Hensley threw a two-hit gem as Columbus North beat third-ranked Floyd Central 2-1 at Southside Elementary on Friday evening. The victory improved the Bull Dogs to 7-1 for the season. Hensley struck out five and walked six batters in the victory. The Bull Dogs could only muster five hits themselves in this pitcher’s dual as Dillon James, Brock Kintner, Hensley, Joey Fry, and Jesse Clark each recorded singles. The Dogs also added baserunners with discipline at the plate, as the Highlanders issued six walks, including two each to Jayce Emmitt and Sam Perry. The Dogs got on the board in the bottom of the first as James led off with a single and scored later in the inning with an RBI single by Kintner. After Floyd Central tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning, the Bull Dogs took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth as Clark singled in Joey Fry after he had walked, advanced to second on a walk to Emmitt, and stole third base. The Dogs will travel to Noblesville on Saturday, April 20 to take on its second top-ten ranked opponent in as many days. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
