Dogs perform well at Golden Bear Invitational

April 26, 2024 - After losing a triangular meet due to weather on Tuesday, coach Rick Sluder took many of his track and field athletes to Shelbyville on Thursday evening to compete in the Golden Bear Invitational. Sluder kept most of his varsity athletes out of the meet to keep them fresh for the Conference Indiana meet on Friday afternoon in Bloomington. North’s girls were third among five teams with 64 points, while the boys finished fourth with 43 points. Team champions were Indianapolis Cathedral (91 points) in the girls division and Seymour (106 points) in the boys division. Top-three event finishers for the Bull Dogs included Girls 4x800m Relay (Katie Frazier, Emma Lowther, Rebecca Simon, Kenzie Meyer) - 1st Boys 4x800m Relay (Justin Reckers, Amit Gangadhara, Noah Weidman, Drew Hoeflinger) - 3rd Girls 100m hurdles: Kailie McCain - 3rd Girls 1600m: Lowther - 1st Boys 1600m: Cole Stevens - 1st, Sam Steinmetz - 2nd Girls 800m: Lowther - 2nd Boys 800m: Frankie Polyak - 3rd Girls 3200m: Wendy Zhong - 1st Boys 3200m: Reckers - 1st, Denton Sluder - 2nd Girls 4x400m Relay (Page Mora, Zoie Paswater, Hanna Sears, Lexi Nichols) - 3rd Girls Shot Put: Kennedy Gallentine - 2nd, Heidy Ortman - 3rd Girls Discus: Gallentine - 3rd The Conference Indiana meet will begin Friday, April 26 and 5:45 pm at Bloomington North High School.
