May 2, 2024 - Weather-related cancellations earlier in the season have forced the Bull Dogs to play seven games in eight days. The first six finished with Bull Dog victories, but East Central battled back from a 2-0 late-inning deficit on Youth Baseball Night to score two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh inning to upset North 4-2 and drop the Dogs to 13-2 for the season. Joey Fry got the start on the mound and threw the first six innings, giving up two earned runs on just three hits while striking out seven and walking just one. Lane Schrader pitched the seventh inning and gave up two unearned runs on one hit, suffering the loss. Generally when your pitchers give up only four hits, you have a good chance to win. However, the Bull Dog offense could only muster five hits themselves. Connor Hensley had two of the five, while Schrader, Jayce Emmitt, and Sam Perry each had one for the Dogs. RBI were credited to Schader and Perry. The JV Dogs dropped a 10-2 decision to the Trojans and are now 3-9 for the season. The Dogs will play their eighth game in nine days as they host Bedford North Lawrence this evening. First pitch at Southside diamonds is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
