September 19, 2022 - The Columbus North cross country teams each dominated the Conference Indiana meet, landing twelve on the All-Conference list (seven girls and five boys). All-Conference selections are based on earning a top-twelve finish at the Conference Indiana meet. On the girls side, Columbus North crowned the individual champion, Julia Kiesler, who finished in 17:28, eleven seconds ahead of teammate Lily Baker. According to head girls cross country coach Rick Sluder, "Julia Kiesler, who broke the school record last week, tied it again this week in winning her second consecutive individual title. Lily Baker ran the third fastest time in school history to finish runner-up for the third time." North also took the 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th place finishes with Brianna Newell, Julie Klaus, Ellen White, Sydney Morlock, and Jessica Meza, respectively. Each of these girls were named All-Conference. The team’s 20 total points put them 35 points ahead of runners-up Bloomington South (55). Bloomington North (80) finished third, Southport fourth (92), Terre Haute South (155) and Terre Haute North (161) rounded out the team competition. "Our girls performed very well. This is one of our best team performances at the conference meet. We put three girls in the top four positions and had eight girls earn All-Conference Indiana recognition,” Sluder reflected. "Our senior class has just been amazing over the four years. Brianna Newell, Lily Baker, and Jessica Meza finished their careers by earning four straight all-conference finishes- that's just amazing and something that shows their ability and determination to represent Columbus North." The boys also took three of the top four places (and five of the top ten) en route to capturning the team title. North’s 26 points were well clear of Bloomington South (56), Bloomington North (61), Terre Haute North (120), Terre Haute South (130), and Southport (166). Individual champion was Columbus North’s Clayton Guthrie (15:21), with teammate Will Russell eleven seconds behind. Mateo Mendez (fourth), Neal White (ninth), and Kellen Hottell (tenth) each earned All-Conference accolades.
