North now 17-4 after victory over Fishers

May 14, 2024 - Columbus North baseball improved to 3-0 versus top-10 ranked opponents after a 2-1 victory over seventh-ranked Fishers on Monday evening at Southside Elementary. Ryan Rayburn threw a four-hit complete game for the victory. Rayburn (5-1) struck out four and walked two while giving up just one run in seven innings against the Tigers (19-8). Connor Hensley improved his season batting average to .500 (32-for-64) with a 2-for-3 night at the plate, including an RBI single that knocked in Sam Perry for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Perry led off the inning with a double to get into scoring position. Brock Kintner, now hitting .413, had an RBI single that scored Hensley in the first inning to give the Dogs a 1-0 lead. Other hits came from Zach McLean and Rayburn as the Dogs totaled seven hits for the game against just three strikeouts. North’s JV team (5-11) fell 13-0 at Fishers as well on Monday evening. Ninth-ranked Columbus North will travel to top-ranked Center Grove on Friday evening before two games Saturday at the Carmel Greyhound Invitational.
