May 15, 2024 - Columbus North girls track and field scored 101 points to finish fourth at the Franklin Community Track and Field Sectional on a rainy Tuesday evening (May 14). Whiteland won the team title with 156 points, followed by Center Grove (124), Franklin Community (106), Columbus North, Greenwood (67), Indian Creek (48), Columbus East (17), Greenwood Christian (3) and Hauser (1). A number of other Sectional meets were postponed to Wednesday due to weather. Top three finishers in each event automatically qualify for the May 21 Shelbyville Regional. Other top performers who do not automatically qualify for Regionals will be called back after all four Sectional meets are completed. Automatic Regional qualifiers for Columbus North due to top-three finishes at Sectionals included: Emerson Chambers (2nd in 100m hurdles - 15.66) Carys Glyn-Jones (2nd in 800m - 2:13.96, 2nd in 1600m - 5:00.59) Macy Eaton (3rd in 3200m - 11:43.54) 4x100m relay (Avery Johnson, Hannah Perry, Lillian Ryan, Chambers) (3rd - 50.94) 4x800m relay (Tristan Works, Emma Lowther, Maggie Russell, Eaton) (2nd - 9:53.80) Other top-eight finishers waiting for potential call-backs included: Hannah Perry (6th in 100m) Ava Collier (7th in 200m, 6th in 400m) Natalie Rohm (4th in 300m hurdles) Gabby Revell (7th in discus) Avery Johnson (5th in high jump, 5th in long jump) Sierra Newell (6th in pole vault, 7th in long jump) Abbi Schiefer (7th in shot put) 4x400m relay (Reece Peeples, Russell, Collier, Glyn-Jones) (4th) Lily Miller (6th in 100m hurdles and 5th in 300m hurdles) Adira Sluder (7th in 3200m) Kyleigh Wolf (5th in 1600m) Tristan Works (6th in 800m) Reese Peeples (7th in 400m) Kailie McCain (7th in pole vault) Columbus North will host the boys Sectional meet on Thursday afternoon.
