May 14, 2024 - Jennings County hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Columbus North 6-4 in softball on Tuesday evening in North Vernon, dropping the Bull Dogs to 11-11 for the season. Miley McClellan was among four Bull Dogs to tally a pair of hits, and her hits included a solo home run to begin the sixth inning, tying the score 4-4. McClellan was responsible for two of the three RBI credited to North’s offense, with Payton Morris claiming the other. Bailee Scruggs pitched the first five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits, while striking out four and walking just one. Morris pitched the final two-and-two-thirds innings and allowed two runs on two hits while walking four and striking out two. North was scheduled to host Avon on Wednesday afternoon, but the Orioles had to cancel to make up a conference game. That will put North back on the diamond at Hauser on Thursday, May 16, beginning at 6:00 pm.
